20 Feb Crushed Raspberry and Jade Green: A Happy Marriage
The interiors of The Berkeley Square Hotel – home of The Square Club – seem to have welcomed my work in with open arms.
My work looks more naturally itself here than I think anywhere that I have shown it previously.
The inviting Georgian lounge, chockful of velvet chairs and intimate sofas upholstered in cherry pinks and nightclub reds, now hosts several of my abstract landscapes – in deep turquoise, pale grey-blue and what I affectionately call ‘sludge green’.
A few steps lead up to the imposing ‘Square Kitchen’: a gorgeous restaurant with three floor-to-ceiling original sash windows, and an imposing wall opposite you as you enter. The exposed brick alcoves are the perfect setting for my paintings in early light, the mirror between appearing to hide the missing link in the line of the horizon.
The ‘figures’ in my work are the blocks of colour themselves. They sit side by side, or layer over each other to create a visual sensation. I am so pleased to invite you to share the experience.
